Grilled Banana with chocolate

Grilled banana with chocolate

serves 4

an open BBQ at low to medium heat or a closed BBQ at a temperature of 200 °C

4 bananas
2 mandarins
Sachet of chocolate

Place the bananas on their sides and carefully slice through the peel and the banana using a paring knife (be careful not to slice all the way through). Work them open so that they look a little like a canoe. Fill the opening with chocolate and then grill for 20 minutes.

While these are grilling, slice the mandarins in half. Once the first 10 minutes of grilling the bananas have passed, place the unpeeled mandarins next to the bananas on the grill, with the fruit facing down, for 4 minutes. Then turn them so that the fruit faces up and grill for the remaining 6 minutes together with the bananas.

Dress a platter or plate with the bananas and squeeze the slightly cooled mandarins above the melted chocolate. You can scoop the filling directly out of the peel.

Great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
